Visakhapatnam Port Handles Nearly Half of India’s Seafood Exports, Strengthening Andhra’s ODOP Drive

Published

Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) handled 48.89% of India’s total seafood exports in FY2025–26, reinforcing its position as one of the country’s most important gateways for marine exports. The port’s growing share reflects improved cargo handling efficiency, strong export demand, and enhanced logistics infrastructure supporting India’s seafood industry. The growth also complements Andhra Pradesh’s One District One Product (ODOP) initiative, which promotes district-specific products and strengthens value-added exports across the state. With 99 products identified across 26 districts, the programme is helping connect local producers to international markets while boosting regional manufacturing and exports. Together, Visakhapatnam Port’s logistics capabilities and the ODOP initiative are enhancing Andhra Pradesh’s contribution to India’s export growth and strengthening the country’s marine export ecosystem.
