Wan Hai Lines Launches New Direct Service Between Indonesia and West India

Published

Wan Hai Lines is expanding its service network in India with the launch of a new direct service connecting Southeast Asia to West India. This service, called SI8 (South East Asia – India Service VIII), began operations in April 2024.

The SI8 service offers a direct route for cargo transportation between Indonesia and West India. It includes port calls in Jakarta and Surabaya (Indonesia), Singapore, Port Kelang (Malaysia), Mundra and Nhava Sheva (India), before returning to Indonesia. Wan Hai Lines has deployed two vessels on this route, while Korea Marine Transport Co. and Interasia Lines each contribute one vessel, bringing the total to four container ships with a nominal capacity of 3,000 TEU (Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit) each.

This new service is expected to provide customers with more efficient and faster cargo movement between Southeast Asia and West India. It also offers a direct alternative to traditional routes that may involve longer journeys or additional transshipment points.
